Ein außergewöhnlich schönes Museum. Sehr herzliche Begrüßung. Und hey, unsere Urahnen hier im Land werden hier wirklich gesehen und sehr gut dargestellt und erklärt! Ich bin sehr begeistert!

Öffnungszeiten Bis einschließlich 19. November 2023 geöffnet, jeden 1. und 3. Sonntag im Monat von 14 Uhr bis 17 Uhr Von Dezember 2023 bis einschließlich 13.März 2024 geschlossen! Im Zentrum der Ausstellung stehen die Ergebnisse der Ausgrabungen in Schwanfeld, Lkr. Schweinfurt, Unterfranken in den Jahren 1979-1985 und 2003, durchgeführt von Prof. Dr. Jens Lüning, Universität Köln/Frankfurt/M., anfangs in Kooperation mit der Universität Leiden, Niederlande (Prof. Dr. P.J.R. Modderman). Sie waren Teil eines von der DFG über 10 Jahre geförderten Projektes zur „Erforschung der Ältesten Bandkeramik“ zwischen Rhein und Ungarn. In mehreren Dissertationen und Magisterarbeiten an der Universität Frankfurt/M., die zwischen 1990 und 2005 über dieses Projekt erschienen, erwies sich Schwanfeld als einer der wichtigsten Plätze der Untersuchungen. Er ist der älteste von allen (ab 5500 v. Chr.), weshalb sich das heutige Dorf Schwanfeld als „Ältestes Dorf Deutschlands“ bezeichnen darf. Hier wurde in bester Erhaltungsqualität der bis dahin unbekannte, komplizierte Haustyp dieser bäuerlichen Frühstufe erkannt.
