Medical services in Bayern range from neighbourhood practices to university hospitals. Bring your insurance card, any previous test results and a list of medications you take. Your Hausarzt (family doctor) is normally the first stop and issues the referral (Überweisung) that specialists and hospitals ask for. Pharmacies (Apotheken) are separate businesses that dispense the prescription you are handed, and every district keeps a Notdienst rota so that one pharmacy is open at night and on Sundays.

Opening hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 9 am–8 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Apotheke City-Galerie on 0821 567580; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is apotheke-citygalerie.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

With 4.2 out of 5 on Google from 106 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for apotheken in Augsburg. German customers tend to review sparingly and critically, so a mid-range score with detailed comments is often a fair picture.

Augsburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in Augsburg, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Good service

So, I am traveling today to Africa for 2 weeks and I thought I had an additional blister of Levothyroxine to take with me which I discovered yesterday evening while packing it wasn’t true. Levothyroxine is an hormone replacement, meaning, without it I don’t have enough Thyroid hormone. When misused, there are some cardiovascular risks and I know this because I am a certified pharmacist in another EU country. I knew this was a sensitive topic and that it was my mistake not checking it before, but this is exactly the reason why the pharmacy has a pharmacist there. The ethical and deontology responsibility of the pharmacist is acting in the best interest of the patients health. I went as soon the pharmacy opened and asked to see the pharmacist to explain the situation. He/She never come. The assistant was coming back and forth with the information, which I find unacceptable. They didn’t give the medicine on the ground that it was a hormone. I need urgently the medicine for the same reason: it’s a hormone. I find incredibly that they didn’t at least try to call my doctor and confirm my hashimoto disease history and instead focused on blaming me for not taking care of it earlier. This
