About Alliierten Museum

Entertainment and cultural venues fill up at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays, so check opening times and book tickets ahead where possible. Most museums close on Mondays, many state theatres and opera houses pause over the summer, and the Kulturpass gives 18-year-olds a budget to spend on culture. Ask about age limits and whether photography is allowed.

Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 10:00–18:00. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 030 8181990. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is alliiertenmuseum.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 2,248 reviews, which is a strong result for a museen in Berlin and suggests consistent service.

Berlin is in the state of Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany; summers are warm, winters grey and cold with occasional snow, and the dense U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus network puts most businesses within a few minutes' walk of a stop. Getting around Berlin is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Berlin and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

A quiet but explosive presentation charting the history of post war Berlin. Exceptionally well crafted museum showing the highs and lows of Berlin struggling with the allied carve up, the russian enforced airbridge to feed and keep West Berlin going, plus the erection of the Berlin wall. Throw in cold war gymnastics with a sprinkling of espionage and you have a unique history of almost unbelievable proportions.

I'm giving this free museum 5 stars but want to say up front that "It is not 5 stars for everyone." I graduated from college in 1991, so most of my formative years were during the real peak of the Cold War. I love history and served in the U.S. military, so I had many points of interest that drew me here during my visit to Berlin. I admit that I had some very binary misconceptions about the Iron Curtain. When I was growing up, I got the impression that crossing the Iron Curtain was extremely rare and done only at great peril, and Hollywood movies only fed this misconception. This museum does a great job explaining the nuances of the four militaries managing the shared responsibility of managing Berlin after the war in accordance with the agreements made to end the war. It highlights the many challenges that the British, French, and Americans faced collectively as they counterbalanced the Soviet influence on what became East Berlin. Thus the museum does a good job of highlighting the original plan (managing a divided Berlin) to the ultimate result: West vs. East. The museum is very small and all of the exhibits are in German, French, and English. The four large photo kiosks outs

Amazing museum with an abundance of relicts from Germany's unique history, spanning over several decades. The place was very clean and tidy, and the tall service guard was very knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely come back to explore some more!
