What a lovely stop in Coburg! Even though I didn't particularly liked the town since there isn't that much to see this castle was a pleasant surprise. It has nice views and the walk back to the town is lovely!

Veste Coburg was one of the places I enjoyed most during our trip. Unfortunately, the interior rooms were not open during our visit, but the fortress was still absolutely worth seeing. Its location on the hill, the impressive medieval architecture and the panoramic views over Coburg create a wonderful atmosphere. Walking through the courtyards and around the defensive walls makes it easy to imagine the long history of the place. The fortress dates back to the Middle Ages and is also closely connected to Martin Luther, who stayed here for several months in 1530 during an important period of the Reformation. Even without visiting the interior, the historical atmosphere, peaceful surroundings and beautiful views made this a very memorable experience.

The hike up from Schloss Ehrenburg is fantastic. There is a Rufbus service available on weekends, but the nice little forest walk from one castle to another is highly recommended. The first impression from the outside is impressive—the entire building is clearly well-maintained and taken care of. It is a museum and castle combo. Just a heads up on the timing: the museum closes at 5:00 PM, but the castle grounds stay open until 6:30 PM. There are safe cabinets available to lock away backpacks before heading inside. The three floors of the museum store an incredible collection of original artifacts from the castle itself, along with personal items belonging to the princes, kings, and queens. It tells the story of the fortress, who owned it, and how it took 800 years to gradually build the place. This is personally one of the best museum collections ever visited. The war artifacts, historical furniture, armor, and horse carts are exceptional. There is even one unique item on display—an actual vintage electric cart. One specific floor is beautifully designed to show the actual room layouts using real, authentic items, which is purely mesmerizing. Saving the best for last: it has th

The walk up was a little daunting but it gave us beautiful views. The museum is wonderful with lots of historic information.

Amazing fortress on a high ground. Very well kept, and the round tour is very well organized. It gives a good idea of how the fortress would have been defended. The artillery section and the armory section were the highlights. On a sunny day, you get really good views too. Very well spent day. There is a bigger parking spot further up the castle
